Three Saturdays of Free Family Fun for FHN's Pretzel City Days

We're spreading the fun around for this year's FHN Pretzel City Days – with free celebrations spanning two parks and three Saturdays!

The fun begins at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 16 at Freeport's Read Park with Family Games Day. Take on your family and friends in our "Win it in a Minute" physical challenge game show, plus we'll have yard games, kite flying and Guitar Hero! The fun wraps up with a showing of Back to the Future (PG) on a giant screen at dusk.

On Saturday, June 23, join us at 5 p.m. for Family Fun Day at Freeport's Read Park. Kick back and let loose with Dave Rudolf's Beach Party – enjoy tunes from Jimmy Buffet, Harry Belafonte and Parents' Choice winner Dave Ruldolf. Kids of all ages will enjoy limbo, hula hoops, shakers, jump rope, bubble machines and of course, a conga line! (Visit for details on Dave.) The day will end with a presentation of Ghostbusters (PG) on a giant screen at dusk.

Family Fitness Day on Saturday, June 30 officially starts at 8 a.m. with the Pretzel City 5K run. (Race-day registration begins at 7 a.m. at Krape Park; please visit to pre-register.) The race is part of the Rockford Road Runners circuit. Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome to participate.

After the run, join us again at 5 p.m. that day at Freeport's Krape Park for fun, healthy activities and presentations by FHN staff and other health and safety experts. Learn bike safety at a Bike Rodeo; get healthy eating tips, participate in fitness and coordination challenges and much more!

Dan Barth and his traveling medicine show will be back this year by popular demand – Dan is a former TV host, variety entertainer, story teller, humorist and historian and his show features comedy, magic and ventriloquism. Pretzel City Days will wrap up at dusk with a special showing of The Wizard of Oz on a giant outdoor screen.

All the fun is free and open to the whole family, so please join us in the parks! FHN's Pretzel City Days is sponsored by FHN and the Freeport Park District.
