3/15/2012, 5:30 6:30 p.m.
One in three adults has pre-diabetes a blood sugar level that's above normal but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetic. If you have pre-diabetes, you're at risk for developing Type 2 diabetes and suffering heart attack or stroke. But careful attention to your diet and regular exercise can help delay or even prevent the onset of Type 2 diabetes. Learn what steps you can take at a special FHN Speakers Series presentation on diabetes March 15.
FHN dietitian Nicolette Drane, RD, LDN, CDE will share recipes and talk about managing your blood sugar with a healthy diet and Brian Leszkiewicz, program director at the Center for Wound Healing at FHN, will talk about “hot spots” that can occur on the feet of diabetic patients and how to treat them.
This free program will be held from 5:30 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 15 at FHN Family Healthcare Center Burchard Hills, 1010 W. Fairway Drive in Freeport. Register online at www.fhn.org/diabetes or by calling toll-free 1-877-6000-FHN (1-877-600-0346) ext. 901.
