We will keep you comfortable, support you and your loved ones and be a trusted resource as you determine how you want to spend the rest of your life. At the core of hospice is the belief that each of us has the right to die pain-free, with dignity, and with the knowledge that our families will receive the necessary support to allow us to do so.

FHN Hospice care focuses on all aspects of a patient's life and well-being: physical, social, emotional, and spiritual. It is provided wherever the patient lives, whether a private residence, assisted lived facility or nursing home.

Managing Pain and Symptoms

FHN Hospice's number one goal is to manage pain, discomfort, and other symptoms so that our patients are able to remain alert and enjoy life to the fullest extent. Our nurses and medical director have expertise in pain and symptom management. They combine their efforts to aggressively treat the discomfort that each patient experiences, including:

  • pain
  • nausea and vomiting
  • shortness of breath
  • anxiety
  • constipation or diarrhea
  • many other symptoms

When you are admitted to FHN Hospice, we start immediately managing your pain and symptoms. FHN Hospice nurses are extremely assertive in their efforts to make patients comfortable, and if a medication is not working, they will change their approach immediately to seek faster, better relief.

We also realize that there are many types of pain, and each type needs different treatment in order to bring comfort to the patient. This includes:

  • cancer pain
  • bone pain
  • neuropathic pain
  • emotional or spiritual pain

Since each type of pain is treated by different types of medications or therapies, it's important that an accurate assessment be made of your unique situation in order for us to obtain the most effective medications or therapies. We know that no single drug works for all types of pain. FHN Hospice is able to collaborate with your primary care physician to develop a plan of care to manage your pain symptoms. We want to be able to control the pain while allowing you to have quality of life.

Receive care where you are - when you need it
